Help

What this is

COSMOS helps you find learning at Rocket Software and start it. Ask for what you want in your own words — a product, a skill, a topic — and it will tell you what there is.

You can write in your own language. COSMOS answers in the language you use.

How to ask

Type a message in the box at the bottom of the screen, the way you would to a colleague. For example:

  • “What do you have on Data Intelligence?”
  • “I need to get better at renewal conversations.”
  • “Was gibt es zum Thema MultiValue?”

If COSMOS has nothing on what you asked for, it will say so plainly rather than offer you something else. That is deliberate — a clear no is more useful than a near miss.

Following up

COSMOS remembers the conversation you are having, so you do not have to repeat yourself. When it lists things for you, you can refer to them by number.

  • “Tell me more about 2.” — and it will describe that one.
  • “Yes, let’s start.” — and it will open the one you were just discussing.

The conversation is forgotten after thirty minutes of silence, and after that you start fresh.

Starting something

There are two kinds of thing COSMOS can give you, and it will do the right one for you:

  • Some are opened by a link, which appears on the title. Click it.
  • Others are practice sessions COSMOS starts for you. Say yes and it hands you a link that is good for the next ten minutes.

Speaking and listening

Use the microphone button next to the message box to talk instead of typing. The speaker button next to it turns COSMOS’s voice on and off — you can also press M.

If your voice is not being picked up well, open Learner profile from the menu and use Calibrate Microphone. It takes five seconds and measures the background noise where you are.

What you set there changes how COSMOS works with you: the language it answers in, how fast it speaks, and the voice it uses. It is saved against you, so it holds for next time.

Nothing there is required. Leave it alone and COSMOS still works.
